Excellent tamales, excellent service, casual atmosphere. We got there immediately after a huge party had wiped out all their tamales except for the pork. Luckily they gave us a heads up immediately so there was no unpleasant surprise. There were plenty of other options on the menu. Our party ended up having pork tamales platters (one red and one green) and carne asada nachos. The nachos came with a fantastic guacamole (some of the best I've tasted but the onion flavor was strong... I suspect because of the onion rather than the recipe).

These are the best tamales I've had anywhere! Including home made ones I've had in California, they are that good. The mole tamale was the standout, with a flavorful sauce and tender chicken. A close second was the Piña colada tamale, which was such a delight because dessert tamales are hard to find. I was so happy with the sweetness of the masa, small chunks of pineapple, and nuts for texture. The masa in all of their tamales is exceptional--moist, not dense, not dry, fluffy and does not give you the feeling of being heavy after eating. I will definitely order the tamales again. My husband had the breakfast burrito, and said it was everything a chorizo breakfast burrito should be. Enough said. :) I removed a star for the service. Unfortunately the cashier did not smile or engage with us when we came in, barely spoke and then when our order came, told me they were out of strawberry tamales and gave us an extra piña colada one instead. Which I was fine with--but good customer service would have been to ask. I also saw a trash bag with contents sitting next to the trash--not sure if they were planning to take it out? I liked the ambience but they do need to work on the service aspect. Overall this has become a new take out spot for me!

I'm a tamale lover, and I've had my fair share of tamales that miss the mark. I'm talking about the dry, sad excuses that you usually eat at most place. But this place? They get it right for the most part. My tamale ideal is moist, succulent, with that deep umami flavor. It can't be too mushy, nor too dry. Does this spot deliver? Yeah, actually. And I'm kinda shocked by some of the reviews here. Maybe my tamale standards are lower, or maybe I'm just a tamale basic bitch. Whatever. Now, the location. It's next to a gas station. In my experience, the best Mexican spots are always next to gas stations (or inside one). This isn't some gas station taco stand. It's a legit restaurant with proper tables and chairs. I You walk in, order at the counter, grab a number, and take a seat. They've got tacos, nachos, and all that typical Mexican stuff in case the gringos are scared of something exotic as "tamales". For me if "tamale" is in your name, might as well stick with the namesake. They got six savory options: * Mild red chicken * Mild red pork * Spicy green chicken * Spicy green pork * Mole chicken * Rajas (vegetarian) They got sweet tamales too: * Pineapple * Strawberry with raisins * weet corn You can order them individually or get a plate with two tamales, beans, and rice. Or get a taco + tamale combo with beans and rice. Your call. Beans and rice? Surprisingly good. Honestly, I didn't expect much from sides, but these were fresh and packed with flavor. But let's get back to the tamales. These guys nailed the texture: moist, not dry, not mushy. They got the balance right. The flavor? Umami, just the right amount of spice, and seasoned like they know what they're doing. My favorite is the basic mild red pork or chicken tamale. Simple, classic, and hits the spot. Now, if you think you can handle heat, the Rajas tamale is not the mild vegetarian option you think it is. It's got bit of a kick. As for the sweet tamale, I tried the strawberry and raisin. It's like a sweet, strawberry corn cake. I liked it. The staff? Meh. Some were friendly and engaging, while others looked like they were just collecting a paycheck. But my only issue is that they're always out of something you want. All in all, this place is solid.

Hands down the BEST tamales in Atlanta and surrounding areas. Worth the drive if you're truly looking for authentic tamales!

This place reminds me of Miami. The fresh squeeze orange juice and the style of cooking is very reminiscent of the Cuban spots in Miami. The tortillas are hand made and soft yet crispy from the griddle. The pastor was marinated well and they stuff their quesadillas and burritos. Fresh squeezed orange juice is a MUST. Will definitely be coming back for the tamales.

My coworkers and I went here for a quick lunch! We've actually ordered it to our office before and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the tamales are! This time I ordered a Red & Green tamale plate. They're very flavorful! The portion sizes are also really good. I didn't feel super full after finishing my plate which I really like. Our food was served really quickly, since it's a quick service/casual place.
